About Kocx Design
Christian Kocx, 3 March 1980, is a young talented industrial designer. He studied at the well-known Design Academy where he graduated in 2006. Immediately after his graduation he started his own design studio Kocx Design. He works for several design-labels and develops limited editions products for his own label. These products were presented on different fairs in the Netherlands such as The Dutch Design Week and Inside design, but also on international fairs such as Salone Del Mobile in Milan. Several magazines have published his work such as Eigen Huis en Interieur, Elle mode, Elle Fashion and De Volkskrant, but also international magazines like DPI magazine, Plaza Koti, Ideat, Objekt international and Abitare.
For Christian Kocx industrial design is more than design. In a time where attention for vulnerability of people and environment is necessary. He approaches his designs from another, less obvious perspective. Stylish, exclusive interior design together with an responsibility for society is always the main goal.
Christian Kocx keeps questioning what he sees and thinks. He looks critically, examines and goes in confrontation with what is considered normal. Production techniques are evaluated and material examined. He doesn't look at the processing of the materials alone. He is also concern with what happens afther production, like distribution and use. This way new concepts are born and the products contribute, directly or indirectly, to a sustainable world.
The free work is a stonger representation of his vision. The designs do not focus on comfort and function, but on confrontation and communication. In his free work Christian tries to find answers to many questions that are on his mind. He always looks beyond what possible is. This research results mostly in hand-made limited edition, exclusive design products. With these products he creates new insights for himself and hope to inspeare others.
Design can be different. Not dull but sustainable and fun. Christian Kocx designs for several design labels with always people and environment in the back of his mind. This results in simple and honest products. With these products you combine high-end industrial design with sustainability.
